Protecting the town and making use of it

capable engineer

The cities we live in are faced with a variety of issues, including environmental issues, natural disasters, and an aging population with a declining birthrate. Department of Civil Engineering utilizes ICT technology to develop urban engineering into a more practical curriculum with the aim of building a "smart city" that balances economic development with the realization of a highly optimized recycling-oriented society. I am. Through experiments and exercises, students will acquire solid knowledge and technical skills in data analysis, urban planning, seismic design and construction of structures, and the realization of a future society that can last forever in harmony with the natural environment, thereby realizing the SDGs' goal of ``creating sustainable cities.'' let's.

STUDENT'S VOICE

  • Hinako Nishino
    Mr. Miss.

    HINAKO NISHINO

    Learning centered on manufacturing
    I met many people.

Utilizing the knowledge of soil mechanics, hydraulics, structural mechanics, and building materials learned in class, students studied urban planning in seminars. I conducted my graduation research on the theme of "pedestrian and bicycle safety on bus routes." In addition, through activities at the Create Center and the Manufacturing Development Project, I was able to interact with students from other departments and children, which broadened my horizons. I would like to take advantage of what I have learned and encountered at this university to work with a sense of responsibility in supporting public construction projects at the company I have been offered a job at.

  • ?Mr. Noriyoshi Tanaka

    KIZUNA TANAKA

    From urban development issues
Expand your horizons to the future.

It was refreshing to learn about urban development from the perspective of SDGs, such as environmental and urban issues and recycling laws. I was able to overcome my weakness in physics through one-on-one instruction at the Learning Support Center and studying with friends. Originally, she wanted to be a civil servant, but career support broadened her horizons and she participated in an internship at a private company. I decided to apply for a job at Daitetsu Kogyo Co., Ltd. after learning that many alumni of our university also work there. I would like to utilize the wide range of knowledge in the civil engineering field that I have learned at this university in my work.

  • Structure and Sustainability Laboratory

Our laboratory conducts research and development on the use of wood and wood-based materials, which are attracting attention as low-environmental-impact and recyclable resources, in structures. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of materials and selecting appropriate construction methods and applications, we would like to promote their use not only in architecture but also in civil engineering structures!

GRADUATE'S VOICE

  • Ashiya City Hall

    Ms. Yurina Oda

    YURINA ODA

showed me the path I should take
I want to live up to my mentor's expectations.

I received offers from multiple companies, but I chose City Hall because my lab professor recommended that I would be suited to become a civil servant. Even when I was stuck in the paving construction job I was assigned after joining the company, my department teacher kindly offered me advice. Currently, I have moved to the Water Works Department and am working while making use of what I learned while attending school. The more I learn, the deeper I feel every day. The work is very refreshing and fun. I will continue to work hard to live up to the expectations of my teacher, who saw through my personality and supported me.
